Pre-Sales Field Engineer
DATAIKU
Remote
$175,000 to $200,000 a year
May 2024

Job Description

At Dataiku, we're not just adapting to the AI revolution, we're leading it. Since our beginning in Paris in 2013, we've been pioneering the future of AI with a platform that makes data actionable and accessible. With over 1,000 teammates across 25 countries and backed by a renowned set of investors, we're the architects of Everyday AI, enabling data experts and domain experts to work together to build AI into their daily operations, from advanced analytics to Generative AI.

Dataiku allows enterprises to create value with their data in a human-centered way while breaking down silos and encouraging collaboration. One of the most unique characteristics of our product, Data Science Studio (DSS), is the breadth of its scope and the fact that it caters both to technical and non-technical users. Through DSS, we aim to empower people through data and democratize data science.

Dataiku is looking for an experienced Architect to join its Field Engineering Team as a Pre-Sales Field Engineer. This position will support the deployment of Dataiku's Enterprise AI Platform to an ever growing customer base.

As a Pre-Sales Field Engineer, you'll work with customers at the Pre-Sales stage of their relationship with Dataiku - aiding in conversations with IT and Security teams, helping customers deploy evaluation software in their environments, determining target architectures for post-sale implementations, and more. Showing our prospects that the technical team at Dataiku can be the trusted technical advisor and subject matter expert is a core component of the role. You will help customers to design and validate their future Data Science and AI Enterprise Platforms, and set them up for success with Dataiku.

This role requires strong technical abilities, adaptability, inventiveness, and strong communication skills. Sometimes you will work with clients on traditional big data technologies such as SQL data warehouses and on-premise Hadoop data lakes, while at other times you will be helping them to discover and implement the most cutting edge tools; cutting-edge infrastructure deployment stacks, cloud-based elastic compute engines like Spark on Kubernetes, and deep learning on GPUs. If you are interested in staying at the bleeding edge of big data and AI while maintaining a strong working knowledge of existing enterprise systems, this will be a great fit for you.

In this role you'll help the team:

  • Evangelize the challenges of building Enterprise Data Science Platforms to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Understand customer requirements in terms of scalability, availability and security and provide architecture recommendations
  • Deploy Dataiku DSS in a large variety of evaluation technical environments (on prem/cloud, kubernetes, spark, hadoop …)
  • Design and build reference architectures, decks, scripts and diagrams to make the deployment and maintenance of Dataiku DSS smooth and easy
  • Coordinate with Revenue and Customer teams to deliver a consistent experience and message to our customers
  • Train our clients and partners in the art and science of administering a bleeding-edge Elastic AI platform
  • Drive technical success by being a trusted advisor to our prospects and our internal account teams to provide the best recommendations and advance customer accounts

You might be a good fit for the role if you have:

  • Strong Linux system administration experience.
  • Hands-on experience with the Kubernetes ecosystem for setup, administration, troubleshooting and tuning.
  • Experience with cloud based services like AWS, GCP , and Azure.
  • Grit when faced with technical issues. You don't rest until you understand why it does not work.
  • Comfort and confidence in client-facing interactions.
  • Hands-on experience with the Hadoop and/or Spark ecosystem for setup, administration, troubleshooting and tuning.
  • Some experience with Python.
  • Familiarity with Ansible or other application deployment tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc).
  • Ability to overcome security and architecture roadblocks coming from prospect IT through a deep knowledge of Dataiku and the surrounding environment.
  • Must be bilingual in Spanish.

Bonus point for any of these:

  • Experience with authentication and authorization systems like LDAP, Kerberos, AD, and IAM
  • Experience debugging networking issues such as DNS resolutions, proxy settings, and security groups
  • Some knowledge in data science and/or machine learning
  • Some knowledge of Java
