What You Will Bring:* Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related role. * Must have two (2) years of experience with programming with Golang, Java, Python, or C or C++; * Must have two (2) years of experience with Linux operating system fundamentals; * Must have two (2) years of experience with distributed systems and securing systems; * Must have two (2) years of experience with designing and implementing RESTful APIs; * Must have two (2) years of experience with Agile development methodologies and using modern source control tools like Github and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment; * Must have two (2) years of experience with databases; * Must have two (2) years of experience with writing unit tests and automated functional and API tests; * Must have two (2) years of experience with analyzing and improving performance bottlenecks in software including memory, multithreading and latency optimizations.

Summary of Role:

We are looking for a Java Software Engineer, the responsibilities of which will include working closely with other engineers to build and maintain custom Java services and libraries, message bus and REST APIs, and working across many different data pipelines.

As the engineering manager of the Data Services Engineering team, you’ll lead a group of passionate engineers in building, sustaining, and enhancing critical data platforms used by Starbucks to help drive customer, store, and partner connections and to gain business efficiencies. you will contribute to architect, design, and develop innovative, secured, highly performant, resilient, scalable, extensible, and highly available software solutions.This role requires wide and deep technical expertise, domain proficiency, and leadership across multiple domains and platforms. You would manage a team that defines and automates processes that make operating large-scale distributed systems simple and easy to operate. In addition, this position would work closely with engineering and operations teams to coordinate upgrades, patching, scaling, and troubleshooting to ensure platform is kept up-to-date and meets the needs of the business. This role requires managerial experience, technical expertise, and leadership with the ability to drive product innovation effectively

The engineering manager of Data Services will be responsible for:

  • Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners
  • Support the platform development team and perform activities to resolve developer issues in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Assist with build and release processes
  • Ability to effectively manage and partner with technology vendors to deliver against business objectives
  • Conducts research and makes recommendations on standards, products, and services in support of Starbucks Technology

  • Implements all technologies in accordance with Information Security's guiding principles for highly sensitive data

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience with implementation of highly scalable, resilient, responsive and message driven micro services on large-scale distributed platform. Strong knowledge in Java/Spring Boot, CQRS, event streaming, Kafka, Spark

  • Deep experience with enterprise security protocols, building RESTful services, and best practices around cloud deployments (AWS and Azure preferred)

  • Knowledge in databases and comfortable with various databases technologies. Examples include relational database (Oracle) and/or NoSQL data technologies (Mongo, Cassandra, Couchbase) and related toolsets.

  • Experience using Git and continuous Integration and delivery build systems (build/test/release infrastructure, Jenkins preferred)

  • Experience leveraging Docker within a local development workflow

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing high capacity, redundant, and mission critical environments

  • Experience with deployment of production code leveraging Docker containers

  • Experience and preference for working within an Agile/Scrum environment

  • Experience managing small teams where each team member has a lot of ownership, and each individual can make a big impact

  • Ability to build cross functional relationships.

  • Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment

  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering solutions for retail, internet, or similar large-scale companies

You have* 5+ years of professional experience as a software developer with proficiency in Java, with a good understanding of its ecosystem * Sound knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Patterns and Concepts * Experience in a lead role * A deep knowledge of modern web frameworks and web architecture best practices and patterns. * 3+ years of experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, jQuery) and current on REACT * Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object mode * Deep understanding of React.js and its core principles * Prior experience with popular React.js workflows (such as Flux or Redux) * Knowledge in common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM. * Experience in UI, LESS, SCSS, HTML responsive design, e.g. CSS grid, flexbox, media queries * Knowledge of Responsive design using Material design, Bootstrap or equivalent * Cross-browser compatibility * Secure UI development best practices, e.g. OWASP * Experience with CI/CD and GIT, Jenkins or similar * Deep understanding and experience with cloud and security and authentication * Experience with REST APIs and REST API best practices * Experience in debugging technical issues by looking at application logs along with in-depth debugging skills on different browsers * Familiarity in AWS CloudWatch and Splunk * Familiarity with Safe Agile process and planning, Jira, Confluence etc.

Position Summary:

The University of Colorado’s (CU) Office of Advancement manages and coordinates administrative functions that support the campus-based fundraising field staff. These functions include communications, database management, estate gift planning, gift processing, marketing, research, and other services. These centralized services place the institution in an optimal position to attract substantial support from the philanthropic sector.

The Principal Salesforce Developer at Central Advancement will serve as a technical point person on the Salesforce team, responsible for all technical aspects of the Salesforce platform including data migrations, data quality, systems integrations, 3rd party applications, and custom code, ensuring the effective deployment of Advancement’s Salesforce solution. The Principal Salesforce Developer will work closely with functional leaders, organizational business units, and subject matter experts to identify business requirements and develop technical specifications for multiple CU Advancement business units.

This position reports to the Assistant Director of Advancement Solutions Architecture and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff system.

Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop business technology solutions focused on cloud-based business applications.
  • In partnership with the Salesforce Administrators, Analysts, the Lead Salesforce Developer, and the Assistant Director of Advancement Solutions Architecture, develop relevant solutions for the Salesforce platform to achieve business requirements.
  • Guide and inform on development best practices and mentor junior members of the team.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Salesforce and the ascend managed package.
  • Reference requirement mapping of functional requirements to match this functionality with system and technical requirements.
  • Work with the Assistant Director of Advancement Solutions Architecture to build enterprise solutions that are scalable, adaptable and in synchronization with ever changing client needs.
  • Build proofs-of-concept (POCs) on which teams can further iterate.
  • Perform low- and high-level programming while implementing a combination of configuration and application development to meet Salesforce business requirements as defined by functional users and other technical staff.
  • Lead efforts related to the Salesforce’s integration with other systems at the University, using third party integration tools in partnership with the Technical Architecture and University Information Systems teams.
  • Oversee common data imports, ensuring the integrity of the data, aligned with the University’s data governance standards.
  • Build and run advanced queries.
  • Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks within the Salesforce platform in context of the ascend managed package, optimizing processes requiring bulkification, data queries, page load times, and user experience.
  • Manage security permissions for users. Manage all vendor software related maintenance and upgrades and will have oversight over change control and information security processes for the Salesforce solution.
  • Create detailed system documentation related to the Salesforce solution’s development, aligned with guidelines from the University’s Information Services (UIS).
  • Utilize Apex (classes and triggers), Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, and other Salesforce technologies to create scalable and efficient solutions.
  • Stay up to date with the latest and ascend Salesforce features, functionalities, and industry best processes.

Salary: The anticipated hiring range has been established at $110,000-$115,000.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis)
  • Four (4) years’ experience which must include the following:
    • Object-oriented software development (C++, C#, Java, Apex).
    • Design and/or use of Web Service Calls and API’s (REST, SOAP, XML, SF App Exchanges, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science/MIS or related technology intensive field.
  • Six (6) years’ equivalent experience as listed above.
  • Extensive experience with major Salesforce platforms Salesforce-based managed applications with the ability to build custom apps and objects, formula fields, workflows, custom views, and other content of intermediate complexity.
  • Experience developing with Visualforce.
  • Experience developing Force.com Lightning Components, Lighting Pages (to include Community Builder), and working with Managed Packages and integrations.
  • Experience using Salesforce data tools (Data Loader, Excel Connector, DemandTools, Eclipse Force.com IDE).
  • Knowledge and experience using front end and backend web languages and databases including but not limited to HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, Suite Script, AJAX, Python, Ruby/Groovy on Rails, etc.
  • Experience with integrating Salesforce software with Salesforce or similar ERP, Student Information Systems, enterprise class systems.
  • Experience with change management, specific to Salesforce deployments.
  • Project management skills.
