Job Description

Meta is seeking a Performance and Capacity Engineer to join the Capacity Team to focus on site-wide capacity planning and fulfillment, system building, and tooling development. Performance and Capacity Engineer, Fulfillment Responsibilities:

  • Work with Product Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, and Data Engineering teams to find the optimal way to scale one of the largest infrastructure in the world
  • Lead tooling, automation, and optimization projects for capacity accounting, resource management, and infrastructure operations
  • Plan the largest server and data center capacity. Own and drive Meta’s capacity planning and execution work for its infrastructure
  • Identify capacity planning and execution related issues proactively and work with supply, system, network, and engineering teams to resolve
  • Tackle and analyze operational issues in the Meta’s infrastructure

Minimum Qualifications:

The team provides actionable insights upstream and works with our engineering teams to constantly implement solutions at scale through better automation strategies to make the internet a safer place for all. Successful candidates for this team have a bias toward action and enjoy finding patterns amid chaos, making quick decisions, and aren't afraid of being wrong. The ideal candidate will have a background in a quantitative field as well as IT security, bot detection/mitigation, scraping etc. The candidate will have experience working with large data sets and will have in-depth experience in data-driven decision making. You are scrappy, focused on results, a self-starter, and have demonstrated success in using analytics to reduce abuse and negative user experiences across the platform.

Security Engineer, Anti Scraping Responsibilities:

  • Use your extensive domain knowledge of Scraping and Bot detection to proactively detect automated abuse against our platform
  • Uncover insights into network traffic (web or mobile) if there are automated attacks against our servers/products
  • Develop tools to combat scraping
  • Apply your knowledge in quantitative business analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to identify trends and opportunities in investigating and blocking scraping
  • Analyze and interpret data on which to devise hypotheses
  • Create investigation reports that clearly communicate issues and risks from both a technical and business perspective
  • Implement effective countermeasures to stop scraping based on these identified patterns
  • Contribute to Meta’s anti-abuse codebase in PHP, Python, and Haskell
  • Be a thought leader for data-informed initiatives and guide the team’s overall direction
  • Partner with Data Science, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to solve problems at scale
  • Work effectively with our partners in Legal and eCrime to investigate scrapers and scraping activities
  • Work with internal teams to understand what happens with exfiltrated data
  • Partner with internal teams to help shape and inform bot detection technology

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in the adversarial space working on Scraping, Bot detection and mitigation
  • 2+ years of experience doing quantitative analysis

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Data Engineer will expand and optimize the data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimize data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The Senior Data Engineer will perform data architecture analysis, design, development and testing to deliver data applications, services, interfaces, ETL processes, reporting and other workflow and management initiatives. What you’ll do:* Push the limits of mobile devices and create great user experiences * Build smooth, stable, and fun products * Develop features from design through implementation and launch * Evaluate technical tradeoffs of every decision and work with design on the best UI and infrastructure practices * Perform code reviews that guarantee code quality

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:* Use Kotlin, Java, RxJava, Dagger, and other great tools to build smooth, stable, and fun products * Support features from design through implementation and launch

Minimum Qualifications:* Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science or equivalent experience * 7+ years of mobile software engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:* Java and Android expertise

Compensation In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future. Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): The base salary range for this position is $202,000-$303,000 annually.

Zone B: The base salary range for this position is $192,000-$288,000 annually. Zone C: The base salary range for this position is $172,000-$257,000 annually. This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
