Role Objectives

Senior Software Engineer is responsible for assisting in the technical vision and strategic planning of all aspects of software solutions for the Capital Market business. This includes both in-house built and external vendor provided software. The engineer is part of the team working on mission critical projects and provides the technical expertise for development environment, technology architecture and implementation. The Director, Software Engineering will be responsible for the direction, oversight and management of complex information technology projects and all associated activities and staff for the Software Engineering function at Wadsworth Center. This position will direct and oversee Wadsworth Center's critical applications supporting laboratory information management systems, kit ordering and other Wadsworth core functions. The Director of Software Engineering will be responsible for the technical roadmap for Wadsworth’s platform, as well as their team’s performance and career development. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or a related field and six years of experience in the direction and/or management of an an information technology program or closely related field, public health, health/human services, or health regulatory program or community-based services program/organization; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and eight years of such experience; OR ten years of such experience. The years of experience must have included policy formulation, program planning, design, implementation, evaluation, and/or allocation of resources. At least four years of experience must have included supervision of staff. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Five years’ experiencing managing teams using Java, Python, Oracle, JSP, GIT, Javascript, JQuery, Angular, Jenkins Three years’ experience with CI/CD processes, containers, test automation, cloud deployments Seven years’ experience in web development and distributed architectures including microservices Three years’ experience working within cloud environments such as AWS and GCP Five years’ experience in Agile methodology Three years’ experience in governmental setting. Five years’ experience in securing confidential data systems Five years’ experience producing data sets and data models to support data analysts and research scientists Previous experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and laboratory sample workflows.

Conditions of Employment

  • 5+ years of experience as a full-stack Security Engineer in a cloud-native, micro-service SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS environment, preferably in AWS.

The base salary range for this position is 176,000 - 281,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Integration Engineer/Coordinator to join our innovative team. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, implement, and maintain integration solutions, while ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of HIE technology, collaborating with New York’s Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), and ensuring seamless integration of various systems and applications, enabling efficient and effective data flow across the organization. To succeed in this role, you must have a strong technical background and a deep understanding of integration principles and best practices. You should be adept at analyzing complex problems, identifying root causes, and providing innovative solutions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential, as you will be working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

This position reports to the Executive Director of TechBD. This role can be based out of the Albany, NY or Manhattan, NY office.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • System Integration and Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust integrations between our Mirth- and PostgreSQL-based universal data infrastructure and various EHRs and digital health systems, focusing on collaboration with multiple Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) and Qualified Entities (QEs). Ensure seamless data flow and interoperability across diverse healthcare systems and institutions.
  • Client Collaboration: Engage directly with healthcare clients, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare providers, to gather and understand their specific integration requirements to various QEs and how TechBD can assist QEs with integration challenges. Tailor solutions that align with their needs while ensuring compliance with health information standards and privacy laws.
  • Project Coordination: Act as a project coordinator for integration projects, managing timelines, resources, and stakeholder communication. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.
  • On-Site Implementation and Support: Conduct on-site visits to client locations for system implementation, troubleshooting, and to provide ongoing support. This includes hands-on work with HIE and QE systems to ensure successful integration and operation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, product managers, and support teams to ensure smooth, efficient, and effective integration processes. Facilitate cross-functional team efforts to resolve complex integration challenges.
  • Documentation and Continuous Improvement: Maintain detailed documentation of integration designs, processes, customer interactions, and lessons learned. Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing integration capabilities, system performance, and customer satisfaction.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in designing and implementing integration solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of integration technologies and protocols, such as REST, SOAP, and JSON.
  • Proficient in programming languages like Java, Python, or C#. - Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will partner with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Analysts and other professionals. You will implement machine learning models that will deliver stability, producibility, scalability and integration with other products and services. You will implement capabilities to solve sophisticated business problems, deploy innovative products, services and experiences to delight our customers! Here is what you can expect in a typical day:* Operationalize ML software models and components that solve real-world business problems, while working in collaboration with the Product and Data Science teams; remove complex technical impediments * Solve complex problems by writing and testing application code, developing and validating ML models, and automating tests and deployment * Leverage cloud-based architectures and technologies to deliver optimized ML models at scale * Construct optimized data pipelines to feed ML models * Leverage continuous integration and continuous deployment best practices, including test automation and monitoring, to ensure successful deployment of ML models and application code * Bring a applied understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, begin to identify opportunities to provide input to the team and coach others and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day * Work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors * Use programming languages including but not limited to Python, R, SQL, Java or Scala, SQL

The Skills and expertise you bring:* Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or experience in related fields * Leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts and perspectives to the benefit of the organization * Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD) * Knowledge of business concepts, tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business * Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on an on-going basis through self-initiative and tackling challenges * Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills

Applied experience with several of the following:* Software Engineering & System Design: Requirement analysis, coding, and testing, version control, microservices architecture, building RestFul APIs, Distributed computing, architecture patterns, general understanding of computer architecture, Object-oriented programming concepts * Machine Learning and Deep Learning: Good understanding of: ML algorithms like linear regression, logistic regression, etc., supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning, AI Frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn etc., Neural network, NLP, computer vision, and predictive analytics * Model Performance Management: model monitoring, model validation, bias detection, explainability, performance, drift, outliers etc. * Model Deployment: Thorough Understanding of MDLC (Model Development Life Cycle), CI/CD/CT pipelines (using tools like Jenkins, CloudBees, Harness etc.), A/B testing. Pipeline frameworks like MLFlow, AWS SageMaker pipeline etc. model and data versioning * Data Integration, Transformation & Processing: Transforming and mapping raw data to generate insights. Data wrangling through various tools. Understanding big data ecosystems, relational, NOSQL and graph databases, unstructured and semi-structured data. Data processing on distributed systems with Spark/PySpark * Statistics and Computing: Strong knowledge of: Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics, Multivariate Calculus, Distributions like Poisson, Normal, Binomial etc. * Programming Languages: Python, R, SQL, Java or Scala, SQL

The salary range for this role is from $99,000.00 to $163,200.00. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
