Meet Our Team

DTC’s software engineering teams build applications for the web, mobile, tablets, connected TVs, consoles, and other streaming devices. Every customer starts their wonderful journey into the world of WBD through DTC’s Identity and Growth teams. We ensure customers can seamlessly authenticate and authorize across all WBD brands.

We are a fast-growing, global engineering group that is crucial to WBD’s future. We are looking for a software development engineer passionate about solving complex engineering challenges. This position will oversee a critical backend team responsible for developing features on the Global Authorization & Authentication platform, which integrates with our partners across the globe. Our services maintain user identity and subscription for our MVPD customers. You will help build & scale the GAuth Platform for all WBD brands and customers.

Roles & Responsibilities

You will be part of a dedicated team that builds scalable platforms for different products in WBD. The team is currently based in the US.

  • You assist in designing and developing major functional changes to existing software systems, or new ones, involving yourself and other engineers. You make good decisions about when to build new and when to extend existing. You are known for your subject matter expertise
  • Your work and approach to work are exemplary. You drive best practices and set standards for your team. You can propose and create best practices proactively where none exist.
  • You write high-quality, maintainable, and robust code. You may have experience in more than one language and understand the fundamentals of software engineering well enough to learn new languages and frameworks when needed.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience developing solutions in Golang with proficiency in GO development frameworks. Experience with Java is a plus.
  • Experience in backend software development, building micro services, event driven architectures/solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to use common industry tools for software development including but not limited to IDEs, build and continuous integration, source control management, code review tools, data storage services, and cloud infrastructure, and you are able to build software in a professional team environment delivered to production using these tools.
  • Familiarity with a range of database technologies, encompassing both SQL and NoSQL options, including DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, and Postgres Aurora.
  • Usage and deep understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services
  • Experience building, operating, and owning services. Implementing operational excellence mechanisms including alerting, metrics, and logging using Prometheus, CloudWatch, Kibana, PagerDuty
  • Experience with software engineering best practices (e.g., unit testing, design patterns, building maintainable code, performance)
  • DevOps experience (AWS preferred) architecting, configuring cloud technology stacks (Compute, Network Security, API Gateways, VPCs, CDNs, Kafka/MKS, Kubernetes, Fargate/EKS, Jenkins configuration, CI/CD configurations etc., is a plus.
  • Demonstrates good software development practices in several areas, with improvement over the time expected. Provide technical documentation describing your contributions and contribute enhancements to your team’s best practices
  • Ability to work with minimal instructions on day-to-day work, consume and self-start with general instructions on new assignments. Participates in an inclusive and supportive engineering culture.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Software Engineer, Playback Platform, you will play an integral part in building the future of Streaming at Warner Bros Discovery’s products and brands ranging from Max, TNT Sports, D+, to many other WBD brands.

About the team

The Live DevOps team is responsible for the CDN infrastructure for the WBD brands like CNN, TBS, TNT, Bleacher Report and NCAA, and MAX. This includes managing the live streamingand on demand video origins, integrating and maintaining our video and site infrastructure acrossmultiple CDN partners and supporting our brands as we bring best in class experiences directly to our consumers. Additionally, we also manage the infrastructure for the live channels that feed our direct-to-consumer platforms for both linear and event-based workflows. We leverage automation where possible and collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate across your systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with development teams and technical teams to provide resilient solutions to achieve business goals. Solutions can consist of software and services, commercial software, services and systems as well as open source software.
  • Solutions Consultation: collaborate with business unit and third-party service provides for new products or product enhancements that may alter performance and availability of products, services or infrastructure components
  • Configuration Management: author, deploy, and maintain system, web site and application configuration management code and configuration
  • Perform platform configuration, capacity planning, monitoring, alert configuration and Tier 2 incident response.
  • Plan and execute the integration of internet-based products and services in an efficient, secure, scalable, reliable and cost-effective manner.
  • Incident Response: Execute day to day maintenance tasks including problem determination and resolution, as well as root-cause analysis and responsibility responding to live site issues
  • Automation/Tooling: author, maintain and document custom tools and programs that reduce the number of manual processes necessary for daily operational support

Requirements

Purpose of the Role:

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $144,000 and $216,000 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. What will you bring to the role:

Experience in working with multiple application environments, and support business continuity across multiple geographic regions inclusive of Implementing DevOps culture, and use of tools to ensure Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery for application deployment and adhering to S&P security requirements for vulnerability remediation.

Technically mentor and guide a group of developers, leading them to meet deliverables day to day in an agile environment and adopting new and upcoming technologies.

What We’re Looking For:

Hands-on experience with key development technologies including Java, J2E, Springboot, React, HTML/CSS/Javascript. Others such as Python, Angular would be beneficial.

Knowledge of databases, integration architectures/patterns and data modelling essential.

API best practices, application servers, cloud services (especially AWS) and code quality/secure development all essential. Generative AI knowledge is a must.

Experience of DevOps, CI/CD and source control tools and best practices required.

Able to work independently to create POCs and provide technical recommendations for solutions to problems with supporting evidence.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to author technical artefacts, present and explain designs to peers and development teams.

Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects with the Ability to balance business priorities with technical requirements and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $130k USD/year to $180k USD/year. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, overall experience and educational background, etc.

The Team:

Markit Corporate Actions (MCA) provides a centralized source of validated corporate action data for nearly three million equities, fixed income, and structured securities, across more than 160 countries and territories. The MCA Support team needs a Software Support Analyst for our application platform which serves our clients globally. The role will act as a first point of contact for Technical queries or problems related to the MCA platform.

Compensation/Benefits Information :

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $60,000 to $124,000. The final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

3 + years of experience in a similar role with a Degree in Technology, Computer Science, IT or a relevant amount of applicable experience

Experience with SQL/ Oracle & UNIX scripting/ Python

Experience using Java

Comfortable managing change to Production/Business Critical applications in high-availability environments and providing L3 support

Ability to analyze production incidents and prepare Root Cause Analysis & monitoring scripts

Willingness to learn new skills
