The Team:

S&P Ratings Security team focuses on protecting our clients and users from all aspects of modern-day security threats. The mission of our team is to safeguard systems and data by developing innovative solutions for the biggest security challenges. We are passionate problem solvers with deep security expertise.

Responsibilities and Impact:

We are looking for a Lead security engineer responsible for security testing including penetration tests, vulnerability scanning, threat assessments, attack simulations, and red/purple team assessments to enhance security of S&P Ratings Applications and Services.

This position is a technical lead role with an opportunity to utilize their expertise in open-box penetration testing, threat modeling, mixed closed and open-box application security analysis, and vulnerability assessment. This position will collaborate with software development teams, DevOps, and SRE to drive security in to how we design, build, deploy, and operate applications. Responsibilities include mentoring junior engineers and maturing the team’s capabilities and processes.

A successful candidate for this position will:

Security/penetration test web applications and underlying infrastructure for vulnerabilities using both manual and automated techniques

Build scripts, tools, or methodologies to enhance offensive security testing

Have expertise with different types of vulnerability assessment tools or related experience in vulnerability detection DAST/SAST tools

Employ advanced techniques including reverse engineering, fuzzing, and conduct research to identify new and novel attack vectors

Possess sound knowledge of common infrastructure and web application vulnerability categorizations such as CVE, CVSS, CWE

Experience in analyzing, identifying, and developing remediation plans for vulnerabilities

Sound understanding of application & web-based attacks

Exploit development background who can discover new vulnerabilities in the systems and applications

Understanding of how applications, cloud networking, operating systems, and databases work to design new attacks

Analyze findings from a variety of application security tools (DAST, SAST, SCA, Credential Scanning) to secure web applications during development and production run-time

Effectively communicate findings, attack paths, and recommendations, and strategy to technical and executive client stakeholders through written reports and verbal presentations

Demonstrate risk of detected issues to both technical and non-technical audiences, recommend code changes to eliminate vulnerabilities

Automate security testing at various stages within the CI/CD pipeline

Develop secure coding standards and training across multiple application frameworks and technologies to address security-test findings

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $105,000 to $200,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work-related experience

Minimum 8 years total experience in a technical role such as security engineer with software development experience

Design, implementation, and operation of a secure software development lifecycle

Experience with web application security/penetration testing and common attack vectors

Experience with secure application development

Experience with defense-in-depth strategies to help mitigate existing risk within applications

Software development experience in a common programming language: Java, Python, C#

Scripting/programming skills - Python, PowerShell, GoLang, Perl, JavaScript, .NET, API Integration

Security tooling automation in CI/CD pipelines and IDE interfaces including Static Application Security Testing (SAST) and Static Application Analysis (SCA) solutions, Dynamic application security testing (DAST)

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Experience reproducing proof of concept exploitation steps

Deep application security knowledge, with the ability to map an application vulnerability to exploitation indications and relevant investigative techniques

Familiarity with standardized penetration testing and red teaming standards and procedures, such as NIST SP-800-115 and TIBER-EU.

SR. DATA ENGINEER

SUMMARY

The Sr. Data Engineer will build, integrate, test, and maintain data pipelines to improve the reliability of Construction data, focusing on simplifying and streamlining processes of data acquisition and reporting related to construction project execution and commercial management.

This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Business Process or another management personnel that the team lead may designate. This position is in Ankeny, IA, and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours will be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 10%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES* Construct, integrate, test, and sustain data pipelines to enhance the reliability of HQC construction data. * Develop queries for use in Power BI reports, focusing on efficient and automated back-end queries. * Automate workflows and integrate within existing project management software. * Address data system failures and inefficiencies, providing critical feedback to users and developers to minimize downtime. * Modify existing data pipelines to ensure adaptability and scalability to external system upgrades or business process changes. * Author standard operating procedures and guidelines to facilitate data user training. * Manage the support and ongoing development of application and data integration platforms. * Build, develop, and lead a team of data, integration, and analytics professionals supporting the division. * Advise on developing and deploying new data technologies and capabilities in support of business strategies and needs. * Provide overall leadership in integration governance, quality control, and information auditing, including working with application developers and clients to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate usage. * Possess expert knowledge of logical and physical data modeling to ensure consistent and efficient application of technologies. * Work closely with development teams in an advisory capacity to understand division requirements that add value to system design and implementation. * Attend work regularly and punctually as scheduled, and comply with the Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures * Regular attendance, in accordance with the company’s attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position. * Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Management. * Travel up to 10% as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS* High school diploma or GED required, bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, IS/IT preferred, and five or more years of experience in business operations managing data preferred. * Strong skills in SQL, Python, DAX, Power BI, and Java. * Experience with data management, analytics, and deployment of system solutions. * Fundamental understanding and experience with P6, HCSS, Procore, and other construction project management applications. * Ability to automate workflows and build integrations within existing project management software. * Ability to troubleshoot data system failures and inefficiencies and provide critical feedback to users and developers. * Ability to simplify and summarize complex topics for non-technical audiences, and translate non-technical stakeholder needs into technical solutions. * Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage change and priorities in a dynamic environment.

SALARY RANGE FOR POSITION

The anticipated starting pay range of this position, which is to be located in Irvine, CA is $115,000 - $140,000 base salary per year.

The above-listed salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. The salary range shared in the job description is for the listed position and only pertains to the candidate if they work in Irvine, CA. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience in programming using Python/Java or other languages.

Experience in design and development of automated tests using automation tools (e.g. Python, Selenium, etc.) with exposure in testing across the application layers (UI/Service/Data layers).

Experience in advising team to identify automatable test cases at different layers (UI, Services and Data layer tests). Ability to working with developers to build automation/performance friendly code is a plus.

Experience in basic SQL/PL-SQL, writing queries and RDBMS.

Understanding of Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices and experience in Safe Agile methodology is a plus.

Knowledge of testing in CI, DevOps, rolling deployment/upgrade model is a plus.

Knowledge of developing Test Plans and Test Cases, engage in Exploratory Testing, creating and maintaining Defect Reports.

Exposure to performance testing tools like HP LoadRunner/Performance Center/Storm Runner, JMeter is a plus.

Strong communication skills and ability to produce clear, concise and detailed documentation.

Excellent problem solving, analytical and technical troubleshooting skills.

Bachelor's or higher qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent is preferred.

The Team

The Impact

This position will work across software development, QA, SRE and Operations teams to identify component and system level technical risks, identify and evaluate critical failure points, determine technical security controls to mitigate risks, prioritize and schedule controls with application development timelines, and work with cross functional teams to implement remediations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides architectural guidance on best practices regarding security in software development, shared services, user interface design frameworks, high performance messaging solutions, server side development, integrations, tools and technologies
  • Drives and guides the specification and realization of a security architecture, with decisions driven by balancing security risks faced by the business along with customer or market requirements
  • Develop, implement and maintain Application security strategy
  • Perform threat modeling, secure code reviews, and secure design reviews for high risk applications
  • Work closely with core services team, contribute to the development and evolution of the application and infrastructure security reference architecture, shared services and frameworks
  • Perform vulnerability research, serve as technical security/risk advisor for new technology/applications developed by S&P Ratings
  • Determine testing requirements and develop strategies to automate security testing using a variety of scripting and open source tools
  • Assist developers in remediating vulnerability findings by providing line-by-line guidance
  • Coaches development teams on security disciplines like Threat modeling, Security code reviews, provide training and education to developers on software security best practices
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies / products / trends related to security architectural solutions
  • Develops repeatable application security patterns to ensure that systems are placed within the relevant security zones based on the data they house and their purpose
  • Advises and approves of security architectures and changes impacting application security
  • Consults and assists with security incident response process
  • Consults on efforts to work with internal and external teams to effectively scope and drive Application Penetration tests that help identify and mitigate gaps in security controls
  • Implements development and SRE teams efforts in building Cloud Native applications by incorporating Cloud Security and Microservices Security best practices and industry standards

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field or relevant work experience
  • 6 or more years of progressive related experience in Security engineering roles
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in Application Security, Web services security
  • Experience with threat modeling, risk analysis and control design
  • Experience architecting and leading security for Cloud native applications
  • In depth knowledge of network security, authentication and authorization
  • Experience with Security integration into CI/CD and experience in driving CI/CD adaptation for security controls
  • Advanced understanding of vulnerability exploitation chaining, and vulnerability remediation
  • Demonstrated programming expertise – Java, Python
  • Demonstrated expertise in product/application security architecture – Service oriented architecture (SOA), Network security, application security, web services, Angular, JavaScript
  • Security audit, Vulnerability assessment and packet analysis skills
  • TCP/IP stack knowledge, TLS, DTLS, ECC, Encryption expertise, PKI/Certificate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to the Agile SDLC process

  • In depth knowledge with AWS cloud architecture, and virtualization technologies, such as Containers, EKS, Kubernetes, and VMware

Compensation/Benefits Information:

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $116,600 - $200,100. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.

As a Director of Full Stack Engineering/Architecture at Ratings division you will be

Responsible for analysis, architecture, design, development, and support of enterprise data management systems.

A servant leader supporting global agile scrum teams that operates enterprise data platforms.

Influencing the strategy and align the roadmap of our enterprise data applications and drive the execution of initiatives.

Partnering with other architects, engineering teams and Product owners, including stakeholders in the Ratings organization to achieve business and technology goals.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Information Technology with 8+ years of Information Technology experience

5+ years Hands-on experience contributing to data/application architecture & designs, proven software/enterprise integration design patterns and full-stack knowledge including modern distributed front end and back-end technology stacks.

Deep Experience with three or more technologies of Java/J2EE, AWS, Spark, Python, Scala, Informatica, PL/SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Informatica, MongoDB, Angular/ReactJS, Databricks, Kubernetes

As a Lead Data Engineer at Ratings division, you will be responsible for

Being a hands-on problem solver and developer helping to extend and manage the data platforms.

Design and development of enterprise systems, specializing in data loading, data pipelines, distribution, management & integration technologies.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Information Technology

5+ years of Information Technology experience with data/application architecture & designs, software/enterprise integration design patterns, data modeling, database technologies

Experience in microservices and API design and implementation, with service-oriented architectures, SOAP and RESTful APIs

Hands-on experience in developing scalable data pipeline using technologies like Kafka, Databricks, Spark and Scala applying ETL and ELT concepts.

Deep Experience with three or more technologies of Java/J2EE, C#, AWS, Spark, Python, Scala, Informatica, PL/SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Informatica, MongoDB, Angular/ReactJS, Databricks, Kubernetes

Experience with Continuous integration and deployment tools like Jenkins and Azure DevOps

Experience working in UNIX/Linux environment including shell scripting.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Quick learner who is highly motivated and willing to tackle new and established technologies while being able to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently.

Experience in implementing data lake systems using cloud native technologies such as S3, Redshift, EMR, Hive, Presto, Spark. Strong understanding of cloud native architectures, design patterns and best practices. Container implementations using Docker, Kubernetes is a plus.

Responsibilities:

Understanding the editorial ecosystem, and as a result work with various development, shared service teams within/outside the program on enhancements, new requirements, and impact analysis for any major changes – functional or technical.

Work closely with product owners, to understand business requirements, provide solution options by create high level design documents for approval, and ensuring successful implementation by the development team.

Experience in working with multiple application environments, and support business continuity across multiple geographic regions inclusive of Implementing DevOps culture, and use of tools to ensure Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery for application deployment and adhering to S&P security requirements for vulnerability remediation.

Technically mentor and guide a group of developers, leading them to meet deliverables day to day in an agile environment and adopting new and upcoming technologies.

What We’re Looking For:

Hands-on experience with key development technologies including Java, J2E, Springboot, React, HTML/CSS/Javascript. Others such as Python, Angular would be beneficial.

Knowledge of databases, integration architectures/patterns and data modelling essential.

API best practices, application servers, cloud services (especially AWS) and code quality/secure development all essential. Generative AI knowledge is a must.

Experience of DevOps, CI/CD and source control tools and best practices required.

Able to work independently to create POCs and provide technical recommendations for solutions to problems with supporting evidence.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to author technical artefacts, present and explain designs to peers and development teams.

Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects with the Ability to balance business priorities with technical requirements and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $130k USD/year to $180k USD/year. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, overall experience and educational background, etc.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
