The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$123,000.00 - $209,000.00 Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. Job Responsibilities

  • Will provide technical and/or business analysis in support of technology applications or infrastructure.
  • Analyzes simple to moderately complex inquires and determines appropriate technical area or vendor to resolve problems and make suggestions for improvements.
  • Responsible for executing smaller projects and/or support tasks and typically maintain a high level of direct client interaction.

As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will shape and improve the experience of key Vertafore customers. You will work cross-functionally across Vertafore, including Customer Support, Account Management, Product Management and Product Development to help guide customers and also contribute to the future growth of your team.

You will work with a fast-paced, skilled team of business analysts, conversion engineers, developers and quality assurance engineers across multiple high-profile projects with development responsibility of assigned projects. Much of your success in this role will be dependent upon timely, clear, concise and effective verbal and written communication along with development of solutions that fully meet customer expectations with no/minimal defects or rework.

Although not a primary duty compared to developing and supporting code, a software engineer at Vertafore also works directly with customers as part of a cross-functional team, which means you need to be a proactive self-starter, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and be service-focused to help nurture the customer experience. Additionally, you're a mentor and consultant, as well as a customer champion within Vertafore.

  • Extract, transform and load (ETL) data
  • Responsible for interface design, documentation and unit testing
  • Develop automated solution deployments as appropriate
  • Deploy developed solutions within non-production environments and assist with Vertafore production release deployments
  • Working on/with small teams and completing tasks quickly with minimal supervision
  • Leading junior developers and providing proactive feedback to senior leadership
  • Mitigates the impact of technical decisions across the entire product
  • Drives and manages design conversations for features considering business need
  • Defines and creates artifacts/documents that are valuable to the team and external stakeholders

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $70,400.00 - $116,550.00 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Job Summary

The VMWare – Engineer (Hybrid) role is a direct report to the IT Infrastructure Real-Time Operations Supervisor within IT infrastructure group. Site reliability engineering (SRE) is a set of principles and practices that incorporates aspects of software engineering and applies them to IT infrastructure and operations. As an Application Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) you will be part of team of people who are responsible for the availability of a number of Discover’s most critical applications: our Card and Bank websites and mobile application. As an Expert Application Reliability Engineer, you’ll tap into your passion for finding and fixing inefficiencies to solve our reliability and performance issues. In our Agile environment, you’ll focus on availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change and problem management, monitoring, emergency response and capacity planning of our services. Your projects will deliver enhanced infrastructure, development, and deployment automation at Discover. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

Responsibilities

Partner with Application Development teams to build resiliency into our critical websites and mobile application – and define best-practices for SLI/SLO/Error Budgets

Proactively identify collaboration opportunities across the firm to promote reuseable solutions at scale

Partner with our Application Development teams and other SREs to build out end to end observability

Contribute to organizational strategy for monitoring, alerting and dashboards

Provide consulting expertise across SRE best practices for architects and application teams

Create and Maintain technology vision and roadmap for Digital SRE

Drive strategic technology decisions collaborating with internal and industry experts

Evolve our capacity management and performance management tools/processes to align with our company’s cloud strategy

Define the DR plan needed for our critical apps

Research industry best practices and add technical capabilities at Discover (i.e. chaos engineering)

Participate in an on call escalation rotation

Research new technology opportunities and how they can be used to add technical capabilities at Discover

Drives strategic technology decisions based on collaboration with a board field of experts outside of Discover

Contributes to the external image of Discover Technology as a desired workplace to learn technology best practices

Recognized outside of Discover as a thought leader and participates in internal and external communities

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

Bachelors – Computer Science or related

8+ Years – Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or related

Scope of Responsibilities: The position works under supervision of the Technology Team Lead. The jobholder is competent to work independently on all high-level systems analysis and technical phases of development. The jobholder monitors staff performance on assigned projects relative to their overall abilities and effectiveness in completing projects within schedules.
