Job Description

The Junior Test Engineer will be part of a team providing information technology (IT) support services for a government agency performing Auction System Acceptance Testing. The agency puts on fair and competitive auctions for companies and individuals who submit applications and is qualified as a reputable bidder by the agency.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Experience working with developers, end users and organizations to create test plans and test scripts

  • Coordinate with test events, create reports, track problems, write test plans, and manage the defect database

  • Experience with all types of testing (manual, functional, automation, performance, 508, integration, regression, acceptance, etc.)

  • Perform all testing efforts through development, UAT, release, and ongoing sustainment activities

  • Experience testing cloud systems (AWS / Azure) and be versed in Agile development methodologies

  • Work with developers, end users and organizations to create test plans and test scripts.

  • Track problems and reports on errors that are identified

  • Manage the defect database

  • Demonstrated success as a Test Engineer showing a track record of comprehensive testing using a variety of testing methods and practices

  • Self-starter capable of working with a blended team of system and network administrators to provide testing support

  • Must be able to test Java and SQL based applications

  • Familiarity with Jenkins, Maven, Nexus Repository, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub. Ansible/Puppet, Fortify, SonarQube, PMD

  • Familiarity with functional testing using Job Control Language (JCL) jobs to validate batch system and utilize Customer Information Control System (CICS) screens to manually test online transactions.

  • Automated testing experience with various test tools including but not limited to IBM Rational Tools Suite (RTS); Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools - Atlassian’s Jira, XRAY, GitHub

  • Familiarity with Selenium

  • Have technical expertise on IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems and networks and specialized environments such as AWS/Azure

  • Familiarity with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, a plus

  • Experience interfacing with customer and all stakeholders

  • Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (5 years’ experience may be substituted for education)
  • 5 years’ experience as a Test Engineer
  • Experience testing a variety of applications (Auctions systems preferred)
  • Agile / SAFe certifications, a plus
  • Test-related professional certifications, a plus
  • Public Trust Clearance (Tier1/Low) or the ability to obtain a clearance
